How schooling is organised
The Palestinian Ministry of Education sets a national curriculum for schools in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, taught in Arabic. Alongside government schools, UNRWA operates a large school network for registered refugee students, teaching the same national curriculum, and private and religious schools make up the remainder.
Basic education runs for ten grades, followed by two years of secondary education in either a literary or scientific stream, ending in the Tawjihi (General Secondary Education Certificate). Tawjihi results determine university admission and are the single most consequential assessment in the system.
What is published
The Ministry publishes the national curriculum and approved textbooks, and past Tawjihi examination papers circulate through Ministry and Ministry-affiliated channels. The Ministry's e-learning portal, developed substantially during periods of school closure, hosts recorded lessons aligned to the curriculum by grade and subject.
Access is the practical constraint here rather than licensing. Connectivity and electricity interruptions, and repeated disruption to schooling, mean that official portals are not always reachable and that material is often shared offline. Coverage in the listing below is consequently thinner than for other countries on this site, and we would rather say so than pad it.
Getting the most out of it
Ministry-published textbooks and recorded lessons are the material most closely aligned to Tawjihi assessment, so they are worth prioritising over general Arabic-language study sites.
UNRWA's education programme publishes self-learning material designed specifically for interrupted schooling, which is useful to any student studying without consistent classroom access.
